Driver Confidence
Every Mitsubishi has been designed with ultimate passenger safety as a priority. This is achieved through several key innovations:
RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) technology
This unique body design absorbs energy at the front of the vehicle, and surrounds all occupants with a strong, rigid cell that offers outstanding protection in the event of an accident. In addition, high tensile steel bars in the doors - and energy absorbing material in the roof rail and side panels - offer the driver and passengers another layer of protection.
SRS Airbags
SRS Airbags are fitted for driver and front passengers in all our vehicles. Side, curtain and knee airbags are also available in some models for additional protection. Extended airbags are also available on some models, including the Colt, Lancer and Grandis.
Active Traction Control (ATC)
ATC helps a vehicle maintain traction on the most slippery or rugged of surfaces. It automatically controls the engine's output - so driving wheels are prevented from spinning. Sensing loss of traction in independent wheels, ATC applies braking force to that particular wheel and sends extra power and torque to other wheels with traction to keep the vehicle moving.
Active Stability Control (ASC)
ASC ensures stability and prevents loss of control when cornering. ASC automatically recognises 'under steer' and 'over steer', and applies braking to the diagonal wheel to keep your vehicle on line through corners - even in the most difficult of situations.
Seatbelt systems
Our innovative seatbelt systems include pre-tensioners and force limiters, which hold occupants firmly in their seats and help minimise serious injury in the event of an accident. In some models, ALR seatbels are also fitted in the rear to help secure child capsules.
Anti-Intrusion Brake Pedals
In the event of a front-on collision, the brake pedal automatically moves away from the vehicle to reduce possible leg injury.
